The Summer Edit

This year I had great intentions to end each month with an extra shopping guide – a random mashup of items that caught my eye at some point during the month. And, a bit of life-lately, a few highlights to wrap the month up and put a bow on it 😉. Unfortunately, I’ve been really lousy at keeping up with these monthly edits. It happens. So this month, we’re doing a SUMMER Edit instead, with a recap of May, June and July.

The Summer Edit: This-and-That spotted or purchased over the past three months ….

The Summer Highlight Reel:

May brought showers instead of a flowers … but the flowers came eventually (as they always do). We kicked the month off by traveling north for our niece’s first communion and a sweet weekend with family. May also brought ALL of the End-Of-Year activities and programs. What a busy month! Our daughter ended her year of dance with a spring dance recital and, in June, her volleyball team won the championship game! Both kids participated in their spring piano recital. Our son ran in his school’s track conference and played in the spring band concert. We celebrated Mother’s Day and ended the month of May with friends, spending Memorial Day weekend on the lake! In June, we also celebrated Father’s Day and the end of another school year. We enjoyed days by the pool and evenings in our backyard.

In July, we celebrated the 4th and watched fireworks in our neighborhood. Then, we headed to Anna Maria Island for a week of sun and sand! We went to a movie or two and spent more time at the pool. We also started a fun, new family tradition with a Five Below Christmas in July gift exchange. Then, I broke my foot and our fun slowed down a little. And, finally, after 4 weeks of track-out, it was back to school for the kiddos.

Even though it’s “back-to-school” for our family, summer isn’t over! We’re looking forward to more summer fun together … even if I am hobbling around! 😉
