Christmas Vacation Thanksgiving
I’ve alluded to the fact that we’re doing something a little different this Thanksgiving 💁🏻♀️ … AND … it’s a themed Thanksgiving.
I’m honestly not sure how, when or why this came about, but once we knew we were hosting our family (both sides) for the first time in a few years, we knew we wanted to switch things up a bit. Ryan’s family are all huge ‘Christmas Vacation’ fans. It quickly became part of our traditions as well. Our smaller family unit (Ryan, the kids and I) watch the movie a couple times each year. Plus, we quote it all year long!
It felt right and fitting to kick off the holiday season with a ‘Christmas Vacation’ themed Thanksgiving … so that’s just what we are doing!
The rules are simple. Join us for Thanksgiving (come for dinner or come for the week!) in costume! Come as a character from Christmas Vacation OR if you prefer a Christmas sweater is acceptable (but costumes are encouraged). We’ll be decorated for Christmas, but serving standard Thanksgiving dishes along with a few themed sides (ahem, Aunt Bethany’s jello).
It’s sure to memorable if nothing else! I can’t wait to share the photos 😂. Stay tuned!
