Spring Blues
March is all over the place in North Carolina. I don’t know what the weather is like where you live, but here in NC, March has a full-blown identity crisis. One day, it’s the most stunning spring day. The next, it’s winter again. Then it’s practically summer. Then a tornado warning blows winter back in … and finally pollen season arrives. That’s March.
This may sound like an exaggeration—unless you live here. Then you know. This is the whole truth and nothing but the truth. My allergies do not lie.

Despite it all, I like March. I really, really do.
March is hope. March is the arrival of spring (even on the 35-degree days). March throws its windows open, then shuts them again when the pollen hits. March is watching the trees turn green. It’s daffodils and tulips. It is coming back to life.
I had a harder winter this year. I felt lost. Sad. Anxious. I couldn’t quite name what was bothering me. I just felt really off.
I’m working through it. One day at a time. I pared back. I focused on my word of the year, Tend (read all about that here). I started a workbook called The Artist’s Way (obsessed) and listened to Martha Beck’s Beyond Anxiety. I let myself be.
I’m still a work in progress (aren’t we always?), but I can feel spring settling into my bones. I’m waking up, just like the world outside. New growth is happening. I can feel the shift. I’m not all the way there … but hallelujah, spring is 🙌🏼.

There’s something about this in-between season that makes me gravitate toward softer colors. Not the bright, punchy hues of summer, but the quieter ones. The ones that feel a little more grounded.
Lately, I keep coming back to blue. Not bold navy or cobalt, but the softer shades. Dusty, faded, almost neutral blues that feel calm and comforting. A little nostalgic. A little lived-in.

In my Design Trends to Watch article, I mentioned that shades of blue would be trending this year—and they are. Not just in home decor… fashion is having a blue moment too.

It’s not surprising that we’re seeing blue everywhere right now. It’s just so good. And this particular version of blue feels especially right for the season.
To bring this palette to life, I’ve pulled together a collection of soft, beautiful pieces in these muted, dusty blue tones (plus some other because – balance 😉) for both your home and your wardrobe…

Happy Spring.
