The front of our home includes a small 5×13 nook, just off the living room. It was an odd space with untapped potential, but it kept falling flat. It needed a dose of color, history and soul! First, we added a custom built-in. This instantly added much needed character as well as storage and display space for books and seasonal decor. We painted the built-ins, the molding and the window trim a deep, moody blue and added wallpaper to the surrounding walls. The perpendicular wall received some tongue and groove with a shelf … creating the perfect area for a small desk. We swapped the older chairs for more casual swivel chairs and changed the lighting and the smallest area in the house quickly became our favorite.
