It’s the last day of November and the holiday season is already in full swing. The leaves are turning from orange to brown and falling more rapidly than I prefer and I wanted to take a moment to pause and recognize November for what it was, what it is and what it gives us …
Rhythms of November
The leaves fall and my soul settles
The darkness comes early
And our bodies fall into a rhythm as old as time
We sync with the earth
A natural song and dance designed just for us
Work and rest
There is something about this time of year
When nature slows down
It brings us also back to our own center
The chill in the air feels light
The bite of winter not yet here
Fires come alive
Candles twinkle
We pull the covers up and pause a moment longer
But the light of the morning and the orange of the leaves call to us
The smell of the air and the crunch under our feet beckon us a little further
The trail opens
Fog covers the lake
But not our hearts
Life
As beautiful and mysterious as time itself
God reveals himself in a thousand little ways
If only we stop to notice
