A Moment for Thanksgiving
Each and every year I say that October is my favorite month of the year. And, each and every year, October comes in and goes out before I even realize that it was here at all …
I struggle with this. It makes me feel rushed … and wistful. It makes me feel the weight of the never-ending fight against Father Time. I feel somehow as though I’ve missed it. I’ve missed a month I love. Yet, I can’t ever place why I feel this way. I’m here. I’ve lived every single day of October. The good, the beautiful, the hard. So, why is October always so busy and blurry? I’ve even written about it before – October – Well That Went Fast. Clearly, I haven’t quite figured it out.
But, here we are … November 1. I can’t help but wonder if maybe it’s November that I actually love most of all? Maybe it’s November that will really, truly allow me to embrace and welcome that magic of autumn. Just maybe. Here’s to hoping!
Before moving on to all.things.Christmas.related … we have to have a moment of pause for Thanksgiving. While, I’m fine with decorating for Christmas before Thanksgiving (I’ve done it both ways!), I do have to say … Thanksgiving is a lovely holiday. There is a sweet simplicity to it. No need for gifts. Good food, a grateful heart and togetherness is all that you need.
A pretty tablescape never hurt anything though. Simple. Charming. Natural.
This year we are hosting Thanksgiving and we’ve decided to do something completely outside-the-box. We’re having a themed Thanksgiving! Stay tuned for more on this (including the theme!) very, very soon!
Today, though, a shopping guide to help you host a traditional Thanksgiving …
