For this dining room project, we had one main goal – create a “restaurant-quality-date-night-at-home” vibe. Our clients wanted their dining room to feel formal, but not too formal; current, but intimate; cozy, but not casual. Essentially, they wanted a dining room that invited friends and family to linger over long, lavish dinners. Another goal – keep as much of the existing furniture as possible. To accomplish these goals, we added texture, color and pattern to the room. Board and batten was added to the walls and painted a rich, moody green and topped with a whimsical Serena & Lily wallpaper. We kept the existing furniture, but removed the top from the china cabinet to eliminate some of the bulk and heaviness from the room. Thick drapes were swapped for soft, white curtains. The overhead light was replaced and a lamp was added – creating that cozier atmosphere. A mirror and a few new decor pieces were added and the room immediately felt lighter, brighter and happier.
